How to Update Windows 8.1 for Nokia Lumia?

This update is done completely using your phone, no computer downloads or cables needed.

Before you begin with the Lumia Cyan update, it is advised that you have enough free memory space on your phone. This will ensure that your phone will have enough room for the software update. It’s recommended that you have about 1.5 GB of space available.

Before you start this update, make sure your phone has enough battery life to get through the update without shutting down, or plug into a power source. The update could take 15-30 minutes, or even longer.

By default, your phone automatically have notifications of any updates that may be available. To check to see if there is the Windows 8.1 update, go to: –  Settings > Phone Update – If you see any updates, tap the notification message and follow the instructions to download the updates.

Once you have installed the updates, your phone should restart and be ready to go.

    I have a new Nokia Lumina 928 from Verizon. It states that the OS is 8.0.10517.150.
    I would like to update to the Windows version 8.1; when checking for updates the phone does not indicate that any updates are available. Yet, this web site lists 8.1 being available for the phone. What’s up?
