A major problem reported with Windows phones is their inability to provide a standard way to back up the device. Of course, the contacts and calender items can be synchronized with numerous third party services along with the support to store the content in the Cloud, but there is no option to create a back up plan for your phone completely and restore the same onto another Windows Phone.
As per a recent job listing, Microsoft is looking after creating a way to backup and restore files in the phone, which suggests that an expert is required to work upon the backup, migrate and restore problem. According to the listing, this problem is expected to be resolved in the “next version” of the Windows Phones, which may well be Windows Phone Apollo.
